Red deer

Welcome to the Wild Deer Association of Ireland online! The Wild Deer Association of Ireland is an independent national organisation for deer management and conservation.

Since its establishment in 1981 the Wild Deer Association of Ireland has grown to become the largest association of its kind in Ireland, with a nation-wide membership. Our membership is made up of those involved in deer management and members with an interest in the conservation and well-being of Ireland's deer herds.

The Association holds many events throughout the year to help improve the knowledge & skills of our members, such as Carcass Handling Seminars, HCAP workshops, attending events abroad such as the CLA game fair in the UK & events in France, Poland & South Africa in addition to working with government & non-government organisations such as Duchas (National Parks and Wildlife Service), Coillte Teo (Semi-state Forestry Company), Countryside Alliance Ireland (National Field Sports & Country Life organisation) to discuss and lobby on issues that have an impact on deer management and conservation in Ireland. Wild Deer Association of Ireland is also one of the founder members of Deer Alliance the assessment committee set up to over see the Hunter Competence Assessment Programme (HCAP) & a member of FACE Ireland.
